STARPoint #3 - Can't Do vs. Won't Do
What's keeping you from your goals and dreams? Are there things in your way, things that you just can't do? I suggest that your "can't do's" are really just "won't dos."
You say you can't get up a little earlier in the morning to exercise or read something useful because you're just too tired. That's not a "can't do," that's a "won't do." You say you want to lose weight or get in better shape but you can't take the stairs instead of the elevator because you don't have time, or you don't have the right shoes. That's not a "can't do," that's a "won't do." See, I know a little something about "can't do". I see and experience a "can't do" every day.
My son is in a wheel chair with no use of his legs and limited use of his arms. When he wants to get up in the morning, he has to call for help because that is something he can't do. In the middle of the night when he wants to roll over, he has to call for help because that is another thing that he can't do. If he wants to scratch his nose, he has to call for help because that is yet another thing that he can't do.
So when you are talking about what's keeping you from your goals and dreams, be honest. Is it a "can't do" or a "won't do?"
Here's the good news: once you recognize the difference between can't do and won't do, that brings you one step closer to can do.
