STARPoint #6 Make the Committment

German philosopher, Johan Goethe says that the moment you commit, providence moves too. He says, when you make a commitment a whole stream of events issue from that decision, "raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no person could have dreamed would have come his way."

In 2007, I quit my six-figure job as an attorney to find my true purpose. I had no idea what I wanted to do, but I had six months of savings, surely I would find my purpose in those six months. Well at the end of six months and at the end of my money, I still had not figured out what I wanted to do. I was depressed and a bit panicky.

While attending a seminar in Aspen, Colorado, and listening to a stream of speakers, I suddenly remembered ... I wanted to be a speaker and trainer. I had wanted to be a trainer when I first graduated from law school, but I was told to get some experience. Well I had the experience and I had the time. Yes, I wanted to be a speaker. I was sure that is what I wanted to do. Right there, on a mountainside in Aspen I decided, I committed to becoming a speaker. Goethe says the moment you commit, providence moves.

As soon as I made that decision, that commitment, on to the stage comes world-renown, motivational icon, Mr. Les Brown. Goethe says when you make a commitment, a whole stream of events take place, "raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and assistance that no person could have dreamed would come his way".

I never dreamed a teacher, a mentor and coach like Les Brown would come my way. I did not even know who Les brown was. But I was about to find out. Not only did I train with Les Brown, but I became one of his premier platinum speakers and program manager of his speaker training program. In that moment, the moment I made the commitment providence moved and my life was never the same.

If you have a clue, an idea of what you want to do, what you want to be, what you want to have, make the commitment; make the commitment and providence will move too.
